Enabling the Business of Agriculture is a World Bank Group project collecting unique data on the regulatory framework and institutions that can enable farmers to produce and deliver more and safer food. EBA 2017, presents data for 62 countries and across 12 topics: seed, fertilizer, machinery, finance, markets, transport, information and communication technology, water, livestock and land. Two overarching themes—gender and environmental sustainability —are also included.

Established in the early 1980s, the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) is a household survey program focused on generating high-quality data, improving survey methods, and building capacity. The goal of the LSMS is to facilitate the use of household survey data for evidence-based policymaking, including on small-holder agriculture.

CountrySTAT is a web-based information technology system for food and agriculture statistics at national and sub-national levels. It acts as a one-stop center that integrates data from various sources and harmonizes it according to international standards while ensuring data quality and reliability. 

FAO Forestry Statistics includes global compilations of comparable statistics (i.e. annual data on production, import/export, and consumption of forest products; pulp and paper production capacities; recovered paper data surveys; report on forest resources statistics is produced every five years).

The FAO Fisheries & Aquaculture – Statistics offers statistical data collections highlighting definitions and specifying the structure, sources, coverage, processes, intended use, etc. This is further complemented by the CWP Handbook of Fishery Statistical Standards which includes comprehensive definitions of concepts and details of standard classifications.

Launched in 2010, the Gender and Land Rights Database provides policy–makers, legislators, and advocates for women’s land rights, with up-to-date country-level information on the legal developments and factors that promote or prevent the realization of gender-equitable land tenure.

The RIGA database contains a series of constructed variables about rural and urban income-generating activities created from the original data sources. The RIGA database is composed of two subsets, the household-level income aggregate or RIGA-H, and the individual wage employment dataset or RIGA-L.

The Smallholder Farmers’ Dataportrait is a comprehensive, systematic, and standardized dataset of the profiles of smallholder farmers across the world. It generates a visual representation of the lives of small family farmers in developing countries. It quantifies the constraints they face, and the choices they make, thus informing policies aimed at addressing challenges of agricultural development.

The FAO World Programme for the Census of Agriculture (WCA) provides support and guidance to countries to carry out national agricultural censuses. Data collected provides a snapshot of the state of a country’s agricultural sector – from the size of holdings, land tenure, land use, harvested areas, irrigation, livestock, labor, and other agricultural inputs. This information is vital in agricultural planning and policy-making, research and development, and monitoring of the agricultural impact on the environment. 

HarvestChoice launched a data rescue effort to help discover, retrieve, and use data and tables from historical national household surveys and agricultural census covering countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Survey reports may be downloaded as Acrobat PDF. Individual tables are made available as MSExcel worksheets whenever appropriate.

Land Portal offers a searchable platform for datasets related to land and land issues such as forest restoration, indigenous community land rights, land and corruption, land and food security, land and gender, land and investment, land stakeholders and institutions, socio-economic and institutional context, and urban tenure.

The annual report “Farms and Land in Farms” presents data on the number of farms in operation, land in farms, and average size (acreage) of farms for individual states and the whole country, including economic sales class estimates for number of farms, land in farms, and average size of farms for U.S.A. and selected states.
