CountrySTAT is a web-based information technology system for food and agriculture statistics at national and sub-national levels. It acts as a one-stop center that integrates data from various sources and harmonizes it according to international standards while ensuring data quality and reliability.
The CountrySTAT member countries and regional partners are: Africa: Angola, Bénin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Gambia, Guiné-Bissau, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sénégal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia. Asia: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Philippines. Americas: Haiti, SurinameRegion Partners present in CountrySTAT are: Union Economique et Monétaire Ouest Africaine (UEMOA) and East African Community (EAC).
The CountrySTAT framework organizes data into the following main areas:
- The “National Core” area presents national-level data on the production, trade, commodity prices, use of land and farm machinery, fertilizers and pesticides, fisheries, food available for consumption, population, labor force, and forest production. This data is produced annually.
- The “Sub-National” area disaggregates the data from the Core area at a sub-national level. Data covers Geographical Area (Administrative levels), Local Products and time (Year and/or Month).
- The “Thematic Modules” area includes complex modules and relevant indicators for national statistics (e.g. Government Expenditure, SUA= Supply Utilization Accounts, Food Security, etc.).
- The “National Institutions” area includes data from individual national institutions.
- The “International Partners” area includes data from international organizations, associations, etc. relevant to the country.
- The “Food Balance Sheet” area includes data on food balance sheets.
- The “Agricultural Censuses and Surveys” area includes data from censuses and surveys.
- The “Statistical Yearbooks” area includes data from statistical yearbooks.
